Theatre Arts II!
Now that you have been a part of the re-teach process as a presenter and a student, what do you think? Do you feel prepared for an exam? Do you think your peers genuinely helped you with understanding the material? Was it difficult to teach your peers? What feedback would you give your peers on how they needed to improve their re-teach?
After the re-teach sessions, I do not feel prepared for an exam at all. I feel like the students who did their sessions did not do a good enough job to help re-teach a lesson that was already taught. Also, the class was not serious enough, so I think that triggered the re-teach lessons. I think the class should be more mature and actually take this opportunity as a benefit for themselves because it's not going to be an every semester thing where we get these re-teach lessons.

ReplyDeleteI feel as though this reteach session wasn't helpful at all . I don't feel prepared for this test. I feel like no one took the class seriously enough. Had we been more serious we would've got more accomplished. And we didn't know what we were talking about most of the time. Had some of us actually study the content we had to reteach , the session would have been more successful .If we do this again , I think actually reviewing the content and being more serious when we present will be beneficial for everyone. We'll know what we're talking about and the class will actually learn something
In my opinion this reteach lesson was not effective at all. It wasn't effective because of two main reasons. The first reason is because you had some groups that were not prepared. because they weren't prepared that could not help us learn the lesson over. Furthermore many of the people in the groups did not even understand the information on their own. If we had a chance to do this over i would say that we should be given more time under to teach accurate information to each other.
ReplyDeleteI do feel prepared for an exam because I was able to learn about my theatre perod, neoclassical theatre, and make a lesson plan for it. But for all of the other theatre periods I thought it was noneffective at all because many groups were unprepared luckily I knew what they attempted to teach if we had a longer period of time other groups might have been prepared as well as mine.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I do not believe this was effective because many didn't take the assignment seriously. Also, I know that my group wasn't ready to present on Tuesday. I am ready personally for the exam because I understand the material and I was able to answer the questions that were asked by the groups. If we had a more effective system and time without other major responsibilities taking most of our time,it would have been very effective and efficient. Some feedback I would give is to be serious even if there are students trying to teach. Also, give the utmost respect even if you don't understand

ReplyDeleteHonestly what we did last quarter with the groups going around to different study groups. This helped us to be more focused on studying with your peers. however the reteach sessions made students have no ownership of their own responsibilities. Students were not prepared and felt that these presentations were insignificant. Therefore , these presentations were not helpful. Moreover, One thing I can do is next time read from notecards that are prepared rather than the slides themselves.
ReplyDeleteI do not feel prepared for the exam. The whole process with the presentations was not a good idea due to most of the groups in my class not being prepared. This caused most peers in my class to not understand the material. Also due to the reaction from the audience, most of us were not able to concentrate due to the constant distractions from my peers. My peers did not help me completely with my preparation for the exam. However, I did learn from the group that presented the Medieval Theater due to their power point being full of information that I could write down. Moving on, it was difficult to teach my peers due to the constant disrespect being brought up. I feel that if the audience would’ve been more respectful of our peers’ time with their presentation, the whole activity could’ve been successful. One advice I would give my peers is to respect our peers time when presenting. Also, for the presenters, to be responsible with their jobs assigned for the activity.
ReplyDeleteI feel as though the whole re-teach lesson did not help me to better understand the topics that were given. In my class there was just 1 group in which I fully understood their topic and I think that's because we just finished learning about it. Personally my group did not prepare as well as I thought we did. The class did not make it easier for the people to present, the presentations were boring and everyone was just being rude to one another for no reason so no, I don't feel like I've gotten anything good from this experience.
ReplyDeleteDue to my illness I was unable to participate in the re-teach. But from what I saw my fellow peers did very well. From the topics my peers covered it enhanced my knowledge further about the topics. I personally think it's beneficial when we learn from our peers because they make the information easier to understand. I think if i would have participated in the re-teach I would have done an exceptional job because I truly understand my topic.
ReplyDeleteMost of the teams that presented were very prepared with their research. Most, had their power point presentation which was the most important part of the reteaching process. However, one thing that the presenters could have worked on is to actually take time to personally know about what they were teaching. Mostly what happened was that Mr.Peterson would actually have to clarify a lot of concepts that the presenters should already know had they taken time to know their topic. Also, the games idea was creative, but also time consuming. Often more than one person from a group would not get to speak or their would not be a proper exit ticket. Therefore the time management needs to be better next time.
ReplyDeleteI feel as though these reteach lessons were not helpful to me and I am not prepared for the exam because the teachers and the students both werent taking this activity seriously enough. But I was able to gain clearification on many topics and I feel I have a better understaning than before. But the people who were teaching the class had no idea what was going on in their topic which made it hard for them to get the students attentions. Some feedback would be to next time make sure you have your topic downpact. And also for the students to be more respectful and engaging to get the lesson going.
ReplyDeleteThe re-teach sessions actually just refreshed my memory of important facts from early Theatre, Ancient Greek Theatre , Ancient Roman Theatre, Medieval Theatre, Elizabethan Theatre, and Commedia Dell' Arte. It was however difficult to teach because for some reasons, not all students respected the presenters and took the re-teach sessions seriously. It was hard to focus and get the Gist out of the lessons, but we could have all controlled what we took from the lesson. As for an exam, I am prepared, but I am not sure I will earn an A on the test. However, I will surely review notes to make sure facts stay in my head and I understand all concepts and confusions in the different types of theatre we have discussed as a 10th grade team.
ReplyDeleteI do not feel that this activity of reteach was successful. There were some groups who were not prepared with a visual aid and others were not completely comfortable with the topic which they were presenting on. For me, I had to present the power point on Medieval Theater. It was no problem for me because I was comfortable with the material and presenting orally. I really believe that the class audience was distracted during the presentations. The presentations were not really beneficial in reteaching the information. At many points, they would be confusing and boring which caused the class to be upset. Many of the class activities would be interesting and fun but that is about it. I really think Mr.Peterson should have did a review of the information because that is how we would've gotten the gist of the material.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that the re-teach sessions were fully helpful. I feel as if th majority of the groups just repeated exactly what we learned before. I do not think that there was any new information that could push our thinking forward. Although some groups attempted to do a good job and take this activity seriously, they only gave us things that gave us a basic understanding of the time period. I know that my group specifically did not give our all in the performance so if there was anyone who didn't understand Medieval Period, they would not have learned anything new.
ReplyDeleteI know that reteaches are supposed to be helpful. But when you are trying to teach your peers it is harder than it looks. there is a lot of predetermined work and timing that goes into being a teacher. I think that this time we were not that successful because not all of the teachers were prepared and ready. We had great ideas however, we could not make those dreams a reality. The reteach did give a basic understanding of the subject but it did not go deeper into the context. I know that the remaining groups can improve their reteach if they make sure they understand the information themselves and they practice explaining the material.
ReplyDeleteSome of the re-teaches were not helpful and some were. The ones that were helped retain some information that was lost to you or some that needed recapping. For the ones that were not helpful lacked preparation and the correct materials. This effect some peoples grades in a negative way and it looked as there was not enough time put into the re-teach. Some groups had great ideas but didn't know how to inflict them and teach it to the class.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a teacher I was well prepared. I knew what I was teaching and how I was going to teach it. But when others went to re-teach, I felt as though they didnt take it as serious as they should. Most of them were laughing or just not focus. I could tell that some people practiced but not all. This didnt help at all with me learning any new information. I used my prior knowledge and what I had already learned before. When I was teaching, it was alittle difficult to teach my peers because either they were talking or doing something else that is off task. The feedback ill give to the people who needed an improvement are do over what they are going to do with the class so that it doesnt seem improvised. Also to take it seriously.
ReplyDeleteAfter the re-teach process, i feel a little more prepared for the exam, but think the groups could have done better.I think that only some groups helped me with the material. But when i was teaching, i found it difficult because no one would raise their hand to answer questions. the people were so too worried about what my group had on the paper then doing their work. Also, i still think we should have a re-teach from the teacher to make sure the info is correct. my advice to my peers would be to have a little more information on their power point.
ReplyDeleteAfter the reteach, I dont feel prepared to take an exam because the way the material was taught it was different than what I was used to. I dont think my peers prepared me enough to a certain extent, but some groups prepared me well. Overall I think that some groups could have done better in the way they presented. It was difficult to teach my peers because there was enough maturity for them to actually listen . You for atleast 20 minutes. I think all groups could have done better if we all had a little bit more time.
ReplyDeleteI feel that it wasn't helpful at all because no one was serious about it. Everyone was unfocused and talked as groups performed. Also, some of the groups asked questions that they didn't give information about in their slide so it was very confusing. Some groups didn't come prepared so it was just a waste of time. Overall, this activity wasn't taken seriously and thats why I think that no one, including myself, will be ready for an exam on the topics.
ReplyDeleteI feel that this made me understand how teachers feel when students aren't trying to learn the work or focus in class. Although my group was unprepared on the spot I believe we pushed through it well. But why made it difficult was the noncooperation from our classmates. Even being sorted groups that were prepared. I don't believe all the information was told and questions we were given didn't even come from what was taught to us by our peers.
ReplyDeleteafter doing the reteach I am very confident on the information that I had to teach to the class. but for the information that they taught us there is still many questions about it. my group was prepared but I don't feel that things went as smoothly at is was intended to. if we were to take a test on this information I would not be ready and in fact not know some of the information. i feel that you should reteach or spend the next few weeks reteaching this information to the class.
ReplyDeleteI do feel a little more confedent in what my peers taught me. After I taught the class I thought I did well and I understood it better and the class understood it better as well. I really enjoyed teach and learning from my class.
ReplyDeleteNow that we are done with the reteach i think that I am very prepared for this exam. My main confusions were about the stage structures of each society/ time period. Now I am able to differentiate between each of the stage spaces. The stations activity also helped me a lot.For that fact that we learned all these time periods in such a short period of time, these short, to the point reteaches helped to lock the information in.But one think that i am going to review on my own before the test will be famous Play-writes from each period. Lastly, any feedback i would give to my peers would be to participate more. It is really hard to teach a dead class, when no one participated.

ReplyDeleteAfter the re-teach lesson, i don't feel fully prepared for the exam but the lessons taught by my peers did refresh my memory and help me with some questions i had about topics that aren't coherent for me. Not only did they answers some of my questions but they also made consider what i don't know that i need to know for the exams. Therefore i was able to seek help or lool through my notes for the topics i need for testing. It wasn't necesarily hard to teach my peers bit it was more difficult than it should have been because not everyone in my group was prepared. Some feedback that i would gives my peers on thier re-teach lessons is that the worksheet that they gave us to complete should have been more vigorous.
I found the re-teach for the seven theatre time periods extermely helpful. The time periods allowed me to clearify any key terms and topics during the Medevial, Elizabethan, and Neo-Classical age. As I presenter I found the re-teach as a great opportunity to learn more abot the Commedia del Arte time period. However I found being a teacher like figure to be nerve racking. But my peers helped me farther my knowledge of stock characters when my peers asked questions about the material. The class made it easy for me to teach and the experience was also enjoyable. In order to improve the re-teach students could project their voices clearly in order for students to grasp concepts.
ReplyDeleteThe re-teach process that we did in class really helped me on a lot of the content that we covered. I learned everything i didnt know about each of the topics that we dicussed as a class. This process not only helped me that day, but also helped me on the Quarter 3 IA's that we reacently just took. The information was fresh in my mind and i was ready to take the exam. As the teacher during this process, my peers actually completed the work my partners and i assigned for them and they had great questions to ask as well. I feel as though my partners and i really got to the base of our presentation and really teched the others what the similarites and differences are between Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece. We all worked well are the students and as the teachers during this process.
ReplyDeleteI think the re-teach had potential but it didn't help prepare me for the exam. I think only some did like medieval theater because they actually knew the information ave the neo classical era. Other than that it was not as substantial and helpful as it could have been.
ReplyDeleteThe re-teach was good for me because any kind of review before a test is great. I however was not prepared because of time management issues. The re-teach taught me things I needed to brush up on and just refer back to things. I also feel as though some of the people doing the re-teach didn't touch some of the important terms. Next IA I would rather we get the material re taught by you and a packet of all the regions in order to full grasp the material. In order for this to be fully effective, you need a serious class and only people who 100% understand the topics teach.
ReplyDeleteThe re teach was great because it reviewed everything from the beginning of this unit. It helped me to recap all the material I forgot about like Early Theatre. Also, it helped me to separate Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome because those were two topics that I mixed up a lot because they were kind of taught together. In addition, this experience helped me to add on to my courage to stand in front of people because I'm not really the one to like to talk in front of a group; however, I felt comfortable in front of my peers. I was able to help my peers understand the Neoclassical Era. We were able to create a Jeopardy that our group really enjoyed and we included ideas that a lot of people did not understand or did not recall knowing. We even included poetic justice, a topic I didn't even know until I reviewed it. Over all if felt good to be a teacher for my class ad help my peers understand the Neoclassical Era.
ReplyDeleteAfter the reteach lessons I feel a lot more confident in the lessons with the Neo classical era and the Early theater because Ican now name the playwrights and define the vocab as well as tell the different theatre forms. It has helped because it brought all the information back In mind so I am able to complete a lot more than is expected. We were playing jeoprody and i was able to follow as well as help others witha any misunderstandings. 100% Of the time I was able to follow and help the group allowing me to gain more than I expected. So i feel a lot more prepared although I do need to review the Roman and greek theatre.
