  1. We have went over Early theatre, Rome and Greek theatre, Medieval theatre, Elizabethan Era, Commedia del Arte, and Neoclassical era. In all these topics we learned the stages the actors peformed on, what type of plays were played, and what type of acting styles were in each Era. We learned it by performing the acting styles and notes.

The Rome and Greek theatre was challenging. This is beacuse they both seem similar to me with names, stages, and looks. I have mastered the topic of the Elizabethan Era. I learned that although things may seem challenging, I should still go for it. The reward will feel great and I will know that I reached success.

I can apply my new knowledge when I get to junior year and we have Mrs Leboah. It will help me develop as a actor. In the future it will help with college and future jobs. Theater teaches public speaking and by mastering that, it will definitely help me in the long run.

The feedback I have received from my peers were to stay positive even when the situation is not in my favor, keep my head up, and to always do things with 100% effort. The feedback that I have gave to my peers were that in order to get one must give. I have learned from my mistakes and some of my peers have too

My goals for Q4 is to be more interested in the class and to get a 90% or better in the class.

  2. Last quarter, we went over a lot of information about Ancient Greece and Rome, Medieval theatre, Early theatre, Neoclassical Era, and Commedia del Arte. As a class, we learned all of the content by taking detailed notes and also by using our acting skills.

The most challenging topic for me was the Neoclassical Era. I was confused about the specific aspects that pertained to this topic and it completely threw me off. One thing i mastered though was Rome vs Greece. One thing i learned is that there will be a lot of things in life that may not seem to fit me, but trying will never hurt.

I can apply the new skills that i have as a thatre student during the rest of my years in both high school and when i get to college. The content relates to my future because to be successful, i will have to do a lot of speaking and presentations, and thankfully, theatre helps us with public speaking, which is a key attribute that i will need in the future.

The feedback that i have been given from my peers are that i need to stay focused and put all of my effort into everything that i do.The feedback that i have given to my peers is that taking the extra step to ensure that you are satisfied will always benefit in the long run. I definitely have learned from the mistakes that i made, which will help me to continue to stay focused, just like my peers have been.

My goals for the upcoming theatre unit in Q4 are to participate a lot more in class and to stay focused.

Overall, quarter 3 in theatre class has taught me alot of valuable information that will help me in the future as a college student, and has taught me a lot about who i am as a student.

  3. This quarter we went over Ancient Rome and Greece, Medieval theatre, Elizabethan Era, Early Theatre, Commedia Del Arte, and Neoclassical era. We learned things like the set design, the characters, and the acting style.

Ancient Rome and Greece was challenging and a little confusing. Because we learned them around the same time, I felt as though we compared them and I got confused. My bewilderment comes from the acting stages and around the same time period. I feel most comfortable with Commedia Del Arte because the stock characters were very entertaining and fun to learn about them.

I can use my new knowledge when auditioning for the play next year maybe. A play is all about the scene and if you can adapt to it, then it shows that you have learned who you are but according to the scene do not use verisimilitude- being true to life. (Get it!!)

I believe we need to be more serious because theatre class also teaches us how to publicly speak and how to act in front of people you have just met like using improvisation. I have learned that my team has to be a little more considerate of your feelings because sometimes I can see you frustrations. Because of your kindness, I know it’s hard to show anger, but sometimes people need a rude awakening.

In Q4, I plan on getting an A or higher because I know I can do better in your class and I can be very stubborn. In order to improve I need to know my mistakes and my mistakes are not studying the things I need to. If I was more organized, then it would be easier to study .

  4. During Theatre class we clover narrative and dramatic writing. Narrative writing uses words to tell a story. Dramatic writing uses the actions to convey a story line. We also learned the number one rule in theatre is to show and not tell.

Through this content I was able to create my own monologue. This help me unleash my creative side and strengthen my ability to write a play.

In my life I have applied these goals to my creative writing journals. The "Show Don't Tell" rule has allowed me to communicate with my peers in a way that holds there attention. I have gained the skill to express myself in an active way.

So far I have not received much feedback from my peers but I do feel my school assignments in theatre are improving.

In quarter four my goal is to learn my lines in theatre class prior to the preformance. I want to improve my time management with my theatre assignments as well.

  5. During theater arts this quarter we covered Ancient rome and greece, the elizabethan era, medival theatre, early theater , commedia dell arte, and the neoclassical era. these topics were covered by Mr.Peterson for the begiining and then when we had the student re-teach, Mr.Peterson split us up into groups and we were eaxh assigned a topic to reteach to the class.

the challenges that i encouraged during the content was rembering the dates in which they happened when we were doing the timeline. Also, some of the concepts were confusing and hard to know the differences. For example, ancient rome and greece were hard to remember the differences between the stage and the theater practies. I have aquired new skills to learn the topics and remebering the different events. I plan to use these skills in quarter 4.

I can apply my new knowlege in my life for when I apply/audition for theater activities inside or outside of school. For example, if I was auditioning for a play with a theater company using some of the artistic styles of those from the neoclassical era or the commedia del arte could help or benefit me.

During this quarter,I wasnt the best but I have improved since the last quarter in terms of work ethic specifically in the journals. last quarter, I wasnt on top of them as much as i should have been and that affected my grade. Also, in class I have improved because I have tried to participate more in class more than last quarter.

My goals in quarter 4 is to get my grade to and A and high A and maintain it and also to be more of a leader in class.

  6. During The Course aid The Third Quarter We Came Across The history of Thearter. This was a tough course to Learn because we had to remember Alot of information for didn't places like, Greece , Ancient Rome, medieval, Elizabeth Times, And Ealry Thearter. This was something that evolved Alot of remembering that made it Hard As a course.

This course in quarter three was hard to take on because of the amount of remembering we ha to do and cahallenes that came along. One challenge was when we had to re-teach back to the class. This have me the feeling of what teachers go through on an everyday basis.

This can have an affect on my life because this influenced me about ancient Thearter and how it all established. From when it establish to how it did and when all the aspects were the main points. This shower me the time that each region went on to have a Thearter performing arts.

Next quarter I am looking forward to having a B+ or higher to remain focus in class and to do well on the rest of the year.

  7. Last quarter, we learned about Comedia Del' Arte, the French Renaissance, the Italian Renaissance, and we had reteach lessons. We also learned about stock characters, and different acting styles.

One thing for me that was challenging was the reteach lessons. I found them challenging because my class specifically was fooling around and they didn't pay much attention. They were distracted by little things and so this kind of bothered me in a sense that I wasn't able to really focus on what was being taught.

I think that learning about the different acting styles benefits me in the sense that I can use it especially out in public because I'm shy and I don't really like to perform outside or any where at all, so I think that by learning these different techniques I'm able to better use them and apply them to my daily life.

In quarter 3, one thing that I think I did more was I gave Mr. Peterson alot of feedback on ways that he can make the lessons more engaging and fun, that way it's easier for us, Agape in particular, to understand the lesson and memorize it quickly.

To be honest, I've learned to not make any goals because I know I will not accomplish them. I tend to say I'll do something when in reality, it never gets accomplished. Therefore, I have no goals for Quarter 4.

  8. Starting with time dated 2000 B.C, which began with early theatre we have covered all the way to the Neoclassical theatre. We have done specific activities after studying each independent material. For example, for Commedia dell arte we were assigned to play a specific stock character resulting in people like pantelone and zanni. we have also have had reteach day to get us more comfortable with the material.
One content that were specifically challenging were both rome and greece. The fact that we learned those two subject matters around the same time bothered me , because it confused me with which playwright belong in each category and in general the acting style for both were troublesome for me. I have mastered the arts and societal influences however of both subject matters.I have learned that it takes a great deal of getting myself physically and mentally involve to better connect with the material as well as investing myself more as far as active listening. I have acquired more notetaking skills , as i become better advanced at it.
I can apply my new skills and knowledge in the profession world or if i even get more involved in any other theatre production in the future. This theatre content relates to both goals for the quarter and school in general because it shows that it takes a great deal of perseverance to get ahead in life and you have to be willing to struggle to get where you need to be after all.
So far I have received feedback as far as making sure that i am actively listening during class discussion taking down relevant notes along with participating in active class discussions. one thing i have told my peers is to not take the art of theatre as a joke because it connects and opens many paths for you in the future . therefore , its important you take this class serious and do the best you can do whether its leading class activities or not.
My upcoming goals is to continue getting at least a 90% in the class. Also participating more in doing scenes in front of the class to develop my public speaking skills and to get rid of my stage fright.

  9. Starting with the early theatre to the neo clasical era, we have recreated specific activities from those times to help understand like the recreation of the greek chorus. The greek chourus had helped me understand how theatre came to be and going through Rome, its transitioon to some genres created now. The reteach day which a lot have spoken on has helped me prepare and refresh on the earier topics of before.
One challenging subject matter was Rome. The two periods were too close to tell which was which plus the transitions were similar. The stages were too closely matched so I got confused and mixed the two up. So i have started to master the two but other than that the two are the only thing im having trouble with.
I can actuall y apply these skills to multiple things because it allows me to basically conduct things in an ordilly civil matter. If I do conduct a play I know how to model the playwright and elements of the play. This connects to this quarter because they are requirements to finish the year with an outstanding grade.
So far im working on paying more attention in class and participating more. I learn to work better and cohesively with my peers. Its also just a matter of me focusing because if they give me an edge I can go a mile.
My upcoming goal is too get a 90 or higher. Also developing my public speaking skills is imperitive so I have to work on that so itll be better for me to work better.

  10. As i recap quarter three i think about all that we have done in class. We had a reteach week in which student taught eachother, and to be honest that was a really elpful activity. when you are able to teach someone something you actually remember it better. it helps not only them but yourself. The periods that were easy to learn were neo classical and the elizabethan theatre. Furthermore for quarter four i plan on doing better and by better i mean paying attention inorder to get better results on quizzes0exams. I also need to make sure i turn in everyting on time.

  11. During the Theatre History Unit, my peers and I learned the roots of theatre. Theatre was originated from the Greeks who used to act in order to tell a story to their tribes. This way they would communicate with each other to tell a simple thing as how their day was. In order to learn the background of theatre before the IA, my peers completed a presentation were they would cover their assigned topic. This way, the audience was quizzed in order to see how much was learned. For example, my group covered the Commedia Dell’ Arte topic in which at the end of the presentation we quizzed our temporary students with a fun game of Jeopardy.
One thing that was challenging was remembering all of the important details that we learned since the beginning of the unit. One area I struggled a lot to remember was the Early Theatre History unit due to it was one of the first topics that we learned and it was really hard to remember an important detail about the topic without using my notes. One of the things I’ve mastered was the knowing the most important topics about theatre history. For example, knowing who was the first person who stepped out of the chorus, Thespis, and what are the three main uses for the skene; storage, scenery, and changing room.
I can apply my new knowledge whenever I would like to go for an acting job and someone tests me on my theatre background. This is very helpful so people would know that I know what I’m talking about. This theatre content helps me in my high school career due to based on what I know it will affect my GPA. This is why it is important for me to know even the most challenging topics about this unit.
One feedback I have received was to study most all of the topics that I have the most trouble with. One feedback I have given my peers was to focus in class so that way less studying has to take place in the future. I have learned from my mistakes by quickly fixing them. Before I used to not check my grade all of the time or care if I did my journals or not. However, I’ve learned and fixed my mistake by quickly doing all of my work on time so I will not stress about doing work in the last minute.
For this Quarter, my goal is to keep up with my work and ask for help whenever I need help.

  12. This past quarter I have learned alot. I really felt that the most I learned was when I had to prepare myself to speak to the class. I did not want to be unprepared when I was on stage so I really tried my hardest to prepare. The most challenging thing about this quarter was determining the difference between ancient rome and ancient greece. These two topics confused me since they were taught together and they were so close in what happened. I did master Elizabethan because I had to teach it. I can apply my new knowledge when writing different plays or even in different performances that I might do as an actor. Since I can apply this I feel that learning this theatre will help me since I will be able to act. I know that I might want to look in to acting just to keep my creative mind expanding so this content has helped me. Continually, my peers have told me that I can somewhat get to carried away when I'm on stage to the fact that I basically control the scene. So I want to be able to back off a little to allow people to come on. This was part of my feedback to my classmates. I wanted them to take risks and step out more to better bring theatre to life. For Q4 I want to basically establish myself as a strong theatre student. This will happen with me doing my best in class assignments. This means volunteering in the warmups and different acting roles and also being engaged in terms of asking different questions.

Last quarter, we went over Ancient Greece, Rome, Medieval theatre, Neoclassical Era, Early theatre and Commedia del Arte. The most challenging thing we did last quarter was Neoclassical Era because I was not really focused particularly on theatre and missed a lot of Mondays and Thursdays classes because of track meets. Henceforth, I was unfortunately not getting the work that I was missing. So when it came to the IA that is what I was confused about the most. I also missed a review session. Although I had trouble with the Neoclassical Era, I mastered the Rome and commedia del Arte units. I mastered those units because I could relate to these the most. We also did the most memorable activities about these eras. One thing I learned was that although I am running track and track and school are both very important I must keep up with both and if I miss a class to ensure I get that work. I can apply the skills that I have learned in theatre in college because in college I am going to take classes that I may not be as interested in as other classes but I must take them and do well. Also, theatre teaches us public speaking skills that are beyond helpful in college and inevitably life. My goals for quarter 4 are to do all of the journals, be active in class and if I am out to get the work that I missed.

  14. This quarter, we covered Early theatre, Rome and Greek theatre, Medieval theatre, Elizabethan Era, Commedia del Arte, and Neoclassical era. When covering this, we had content lectures, watched videos, and performed scenes from these time periods.

What challenged me about the content was keeping the information in the correct time periods. I mastered Commedia del Arte. One skill I learned from this quarter was to be more organized. I had to find a way to organize the content that we learned. I did this by creating a study packet for this quarter. This study packet allows me to keep all of the content in the correct era.

I can connect this skill to now and the future. This new organization skill has helped me boost my grades because I can study more efficiently because I know what to study and where my notes are. This theatre content can help me in high school because it will help me elevate my leadership skills. Through what we learn in theatre class, my leadership can evolve because I am learning to speak with confidence.

  15. This quarter we've covered Early Theatre, Rome and Greek threatre, medieval theatre, Elizabethan , commedia del arte, and neoclassical theatre. We had content lectures which was the big leacture at the beggining of every new unit that informs us on everything that we were going to be covering and the history. We watched videos that had actors wgo expressed each type of theatre, which helped us by giving us a mental picture. To get involved we acted out scenes of each theatre, and thatn helped us to recall information. Some challenges I had in this quarter were keeping up with all the information, separating everything into time periods, and the vocabulary. There was a lot of information and we had to retain it in a short amount of time. There were a lot of date to remember so that was tricky. With the vocabulary especially for the stages I often got confused. I would know the words and definitions, but I couldn't put them with the correct theatre. I think Elizabethan theatre was the easiest for me. I enjoyed learning about it, and it was smooth becuase I knew a significant amount about it already. I connected this quarter to my real life because it has taught me to be more organized and better retain information.

  16. This quarter we have covered Early Theatre, Medieval , Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece, Neoclassical, and the Elizabethan Eras. Introducing us as students to these periods were given lectures where everything within these periods were explained. Also we were given different readings referring back to these theatre periods. In order to get in touch and to actually understand the contention were able to do different acting exercises that helped us get a better understanding. One thing that I believed that extremely help me remember and refresh on the content was the re-teaches that the students had to do. Also what helped me were the sessions because it should me what I really new and what I didn't know. However one thing I struggled with was remembering the dates and period times for each era. This quarter relates to my life just because it demonstrates that I should want to know the information and not just do it because I have to.

  17. During this year, we covered Early Theatre, Rome and Greek Theatre,Medieval Theatre,Elizabethean, commedia del arte and neoclassical theatre. We had content lectures, reteaches, and jeopardy. This content came easy to me because of the lectures that Mr.Peterson gave. The class work also helped me out. I had troubling retaining some information but then I started doing study guides that helped me out. The reteach session was helpful for me and I enjoyed learning about the history and different time periods of theatre.

  18. This quarter we covered content from Early theatre, comedia del arte, medieval theatre, Roman and Greek theatre, neoclassical, and Elizabethan theatre. In these contents, we did college lectures, research lessons, watched videos, and portrayed certain eras in our own ways through plays/skits.

What was challenging the most was the difference between Roman and Greek theatre. Since we learned them two at.the same time, I constantly got confused on which was which. Also, remembering the dates each era began and ended was very confusing for me.

I can apply this to my life when I go into an interview and I need acting skills. This relates to my goal of the year because I want to master the art of showing and not telling
. This will help me get what I want across without using direct words.

Working with my peers is a very difficult task. Not everyone in my class is very serious about theatre and trying to work with them is difficult. This makes my work ethic very sluggish and not my best ability because I also do not focus hard in theatre class

  19. Last quarter was one of my best quarters. Last quarter we covered learning about Theater history. Every day or week rather we would explore a new period of Theater history. From early theater to Greece and Rome all the way up to the neoclassical era. A lot of times the way we did this is we would learn about the era and then perform some kind of task or activity that was closely related. This helped us to get a sense of how theater around that time period was actually expressed or presented.

Two eras that were really challenging for me were the Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece era. I believe the only reason why is because they were really closely related. I would often get play writes from Rome mixed up with play writes from Greece causing me to get confused certain method that play writes invented and where they came from. One era that I know I mastered with flying colors is Comedia D'el Arte. This era was very interesting therefore it was very easy to grasp the content about this era. One thing that I have learned with learning about each era is how much theater has evolved. Theater has gone from people siting around in circles telling stories to the stories being performed on stage with elaborate sets. A new belief that I have gained is that a change in things is not always a bad thing sometimes that change is exactly what is needed in order to make something be the best it could be.

I can use this new belief in my life because things are constantly changing. Until i can afford on my own for things to stay the same i need to get used to change. Knowing that change is not a bad thing i will begin to look at it differently. This will help me to accept change with open arm and embrace the challenges that it might bring because all that challenge can do is allow me an opportunity to learn something new about myself.

One feed back that I would give my peers for that quarter it to study, study, study. Quarter 3 is soooo content heavy that if you do not take 5 minutes a day to study you are bound to fail! I have also learned to take my own advice. Although i passes the quarter when the IA rolled around it was still hard for me because i had not really studied the content OUTSIDE of class.

For this quarter, my goals were to stay on top of my journals and make sure that I tried to get them done before the deadline so that I wasn't in any rush to do them. However, that has not completely worked out. Another goal was to make sure that what ever project we did that i stayed on top of it. I really wanted to end this year out with a bang and be able to say that Theater II was hard but it was for sure possible!
