In this skit , I will be playing a character named Emily. Emily is bestfriends with Matt. Emily's goal in the scene is to explain your true feelings for Matt , and she needs to give him good advice. This is because Matt is stuck in a situation where he is in love with a girl named Rachel. Some obstacles that Emily will face is Matt's pushy attitude and her nervousness to tell Matt. Some tactics Emily will have to use is being rude and acting like she doesn't care about the situation. This is because if she show that she cares , then Matt will know something is wrong. One thing that I will expect is Emily not being able to tell the truth . This is because she is in an awarkward situation knowing that they are bestfriends !

DeleteGreat. I love that you are beginning to clarify Emily's G.O.T.E. Please also note the 'My Personal Beliefs' prompts above. The more decisions you make about Emily, the more engaged your audience will be on performance day.
One more point on vocabulary - you are working on a scene, not a skit. A scene is more about characterization AND story while a skit is improvisation-based work that does not require any rehearsal time.
So far as a director I realized it's not all about Being in charge. You have to still know your characters. In my play there are two charcaters . One is cool and pop popular while the other is Smart and always going his work. They happen to bring friends because the popular kid uses the smart one for all of his work. the smart kid realizes that and calls off the friendship. So far I'm trying to fin a way to add in emotion based off off ewhat each character is doing .
ReplyDeleteMy scene is Choices. The dramatic metaphor is that this scene is the ultimate choice. In this scene, Tony is trying to get Sharon to go to New York with him after they graduate highschool. Tony uses many tactics to achieve his goal. Tony tries to convince her that this is a part of her dewam too. Also, Tony tries to marry her. His obstacle is Sharon's desire to go to college.Tony expects Sharon to give up her life to help Tony become a musician in New York. Ultimately, his tactics fail because she does not go with him to New York.Sharon's goal is to achieve her dream and be with Tony. Her obstacle is that Tony wants her to go to New York. She would not be able to achieve her dream if she is in New York. She gets around Tony's wish to have her go to New York by not marrying him and saying they will have a long distance relationship. Her goal was achieved because she is not going to New York and can go to college. Directing is difficult because it is difficult to make my vision of the scene into reality. I have to make sure I hae a clear idea of what I want to occur in the scene before I can have my actors perform my vision.

ReplyDeleteMy scene so far is doing well. All I need to work on is my characters learning their lines. With the characters that I have and the scene we are performing they bring everything to life and make the scene very dramatic. This allows me to visualize the play in many ways. The dramatic metaphor makes little things become more natural and it reflects true acting skills. The goal in my scene is to get Wallace to talk to Sarah. The obstacle is that Sarah doesn't want to talk to Wallace and she avoids him. Wallace uses the tactics by refusing to go out and rather stay in the house with Sarah and have a normal conversation. The expectation is that Wallace will have a conversation with Sarah. My experience so far as a director is enjoyable. Even though I’m the one my characters look up to we all work together to get the work done.

I know that in my scene, Will and Lily Dale have opposite goals. Will wants to marry Lily Dale, while she is attempting to push him away. In my scene, I know that character and emotion are very important details. In order to correctly display this scene, having a symbolic color will be very important. I will need to use VIZ because I will need to make sure that both of my characters are correctly portraying their overall goal. This job is a little difficult because this scene involves my characters stepping out of their comfort zone. My experience as a director isn't what I expected it to be. My partners aren't taking this as seriously as they need to and as a result, they are slacking. I feel as if this independent working sessions with my partners are causing them not to care because they feel as if it isn't as important as it really is.

As a director of the Street Scene, i choose to illustrate the fact that both Sam and rose have problems. Sam has problems fitting into the world and Rose feels isolated because of her familial problems. Sam and Rose have to depend on each other in order to reach their goal of communication. Each time I visualize the scene I see a set similar to West side story. I see a modest family that relies on each other to succeed in life and stand against the outside pressures. I also have to remember that the characters are madly in love and believe that they are alone in the world. The Characters need each other in order to become the best person they are meant to be.I have to remember to show this to my actors so they have the same VIZ that I have.

As a director I realized it takes time breaking down a scene and the characters. During this process I learned my strengths and weaknesses as a leader. I sometimes find it challenging to maintain the work of my group getting things accomplished. Nothing exciting really happens in this scene so my partners aren't to enthused about the assignment.The two main characters Christine and Lea are sisters who are also maids. Lea tries to find Christine's approval in everything she does.

As the director of Courtship by Horton Foote my group is Jasmine Crovador and Jakai Jones-Ramsey has been quite a challenge the original the script that I had planned for the directing project my actors did not feel comfortable with the characters relationship so I had to change the script. But I am happy it would because it would be a challenge because the predominant element of my scene is language and i can incorporate my personality/indvivuality into the script which would still express the theme effetively

Well to start off I am a director of the scene trap and my dramatic metaphor in this case would be chasing dreams per say because the boy wants to take his pick up and go and take his girlfriend with him. So the visual here I would take from that would be the background of a rural area where people have the dream to come to the city and the girlfriend conflicted to move. So we could derive that the G.O.T.E. would be to try and convince the girlfriend(G) and his girlfriend won't leave(O). He argues with her( T) and the end result is an unfinished argument essentially.(E). So while thinking of this, my directors experience has been quite the learning experience. I also got a chance to set the scene in my own way to make it appealing to the audience. It clearly had a profound positive effect on the audience. So in turn thinking about its opening was important istelf because the story itself needed a smooth entrance so that it would be told clearly through the acting. This experience was the most studious. Some think that its just putting the scene however you want it. Thats completely wrong its about directing it in a way that makes sense and so i had to guide my two actors David(Billy bob) and Deaneth( Girlfriend) through this. Overall the experience was amazing.

(G): To get Sarah back
(O): Sarah refuses to get back with him.
(T): Wallace uses light-hearted jokes to help soften the scene. He also gets down on his knees when he begs Sarah to forgive him.
(E): Wallace expects to get Sarah back.
Sarah's G.O.T.E.
(G): Sarah wants Wallace away from her, and she's basically dumping him.
(O): Wallace is begging and pleading to get Sarah back.
(T)): Sarah acts stern and a bit rude whenever she responds to Wallace's pleas.
(E): Sarah expects Wallace to leave her alone.
3) As a director, it's been great understanding that it takes a lot to actually put a scene together. Putting together the lightning, mood, costume, and your actors takes time and effort. If my group or rather, if I directed my group a bit better, our scene would've been better, but I feel that we did okay considering the way we rehearsed.

I'm the Director of "Getting it back ", so i think the metaphor would have to be its harder to take love back than to receive it. i think that's the case because Gayle gave all her love to Lendall with no questions asked; because she saw that it was what she wanted. However getting it back was hard. It took emotion and persistence in order to get it.

I think as a director, it made me realize that everyone has a role in the play. and that you cant just lounge around and wait: you have to take action. it was a tough process trying to cooperate with my cast because their attitudes towards each other and the attitudes that they needed to have in the play did not correlate very well. i think the play in general spoke a message with it being in the sense of having a relationship and also in the real world. i thin that was that everything has its ups and downs. and not everything is not what it seems. perception vs. reality. that you cant really give up and that being committed to something or in this case someone takes effort. so with that, i feel if i took the role of the director more seriously and did the work in the way that would have made the whole performance overall better.

I am director of the scene "Taking a Joke" from the book Scenes that Happen. This scene is about two teenagers who are best friends. The setting is a theatre stage. Matt and Emily have to set up the stage for the play "Odd Couple". Emily is in love with her best friend Matt. Matt is in love with someone else who treats him like trash.

SO WHEN WE WOULD HAVE REHEARSAL, I HAD TO ACT MORE LIKE A DIRECTOR BY ACTUALLY ASIGNING ROLES AND ASSIGNMENTS. HOWEVER, I HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE CHARACTERS TOO SO I CAN CONNECT WITH MY ACTORS.

After my scene performance, I think that actually being the character and fully understanding them, there is more to it than just acting it out. I did not fully understand the whole concept of my whole scene. Therefore, it was a little challenging for me to perform.

Here are some beliefs i live by: I will not lie to my sister Laura about my feelings for Horace and I will let her know about how my I care for her.
